Visitation for Tom Joy, 76, of Carrizozo will be Tuesday, July 8, at Gateway Church of Christ in Ruidoso from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 9:00 AM with burial to follow at the Capitan Cemetery. Mr. Joy passed away Friday, July 4, in Carrizozo. He was born April 16, 1932 at Hope, New Mexico. He was a rancher having worked at the Flying H Ranch and other ranches in Eddy, Lea, and Lincoln Counties. He then lived in Farmington from 1990 thru 1996 working as a truck driver in the oil field, he moved to Carrizozo in 1996. He loved to hunt, listen to country music, visit with his friends and write stories. He married Mary Jo Norton on March 10, 1954 in Artesia, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Jo of Carrizozo; two sons, Dwayne and his wife JoAnn of Capitan, Mike and his wife Amy of Roswell; daughter, Kayla Clifton and her husband Glenn of Ruidoso; sister, Luvina McGuire of Peralta, New Mexico; brother, Bill Joy and his wife Joan of Artesia; grandson, Travis and his wife Shelley and their children, Alex, Marissa, Shaina, and Trista; grandson, Jared and his wife Angie and their daughter Jewel; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fuss and Winnie Joy and a sister Delma Widner. The family has requested memorials to your favorite charity.
