Thelda Miller

August 4, 1936 — August 22, 2012

Thelda L. Miller, 76, of Ruidoso went to be with the Lord August 22, 2012 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born to Jasper and Lorena Phelps in Carbon, TX on August 4, 1936. Thelda attended both Cloudcroft H.S. and Carbon H.S. TX where she graduated. She was Otero Countys Cotton queen, loved basketball, and horses. She was blessed with three daughters and one son that were her world. In October of 1974 she married her partner in crime and soul mate Claude Miller, and together they never had a dull moment. In 1978 she was then again blessed with her first grandchild with seven more to follow. She enjoyed being a business women, gardener, mother, and most importantly a Mamaw.

Thelda is survived by her husband of 38 years Claude O. Miller, brother Jay Allen Phelps and family, and her children: Lynelda Cypher, Cindy Turri Davis, Brenda McDaniel, Jeff Davis and wife Sylvia, Mickey Miller and wife Lita, Mitzi Perryman, Max Miller, Claudia Miller and husband Danny, and Mark Miller and wife Theresa. Also, numerous loving grandkids and great grandkids and countless friends and family.

Thelda is preceded in death by father Jasper Phelps, mother Lorena Phelps, brothers Darell and Ronald Phelps, nephew Stuart Phelps, niece Sherry Phelps, and grandson Cody McDaniel.

Memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Gateway Church of Christ of Ruidoso. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, please make donations to: The Cancer Resource Center, 1212 E. 9th St. Suite E, Alamogordo, NM 88310.
