Sylvia Chavez, age 85, passed away on July 3, 2023, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She was born on March 27, 1938, in North Carolina to the late Timothy and Irene Kern.

Mrs. Chavez is survived by her sisters, Dorris Welch, Nell Daves, Terry Parsons, and Jeanna Black; brothers, Timothy Kern, and Mickey Kern; children, Pam Kern-Smith and husband Jim, Lewis Kern, Willy Kern and wife Barbara, and Rudy Chavez and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Jennifer Person and husband Tommy, Jeanna Darrell, Krystal Harlow, Wesley Kern, William Kern and wife Kelsey, Rudy Chavez III and wife Maribel, Jaeden Chavez and husband Josh, and Uriah Kraft; great grandchildren, Lauren Smith, Ella Person, Lucas Person, Olivia Darrell, Olsen Darrell, Avery E. Harlow, Isaac Kern, Damien Kern, Denalli Kern, Vanessa Kern, Alexandra Kern, Tessa Kern, William Maddux Kern, Turner E.
