Steven Makowski Jr.

Steven F. Makowski Jr., died on May 12, 2008 from lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Ginny; his daughters, Candice and Cicelee, and siblings Cindy, Bob, Jerry and Patrick Makowski. He is preceded in death by his parents Steven and Lillian Ryan Makowski.

Steve spent over thirty years with the U.S. Forest Service, most of them in New Mexico. After retiring, he continued contracting as a dispatcher to keep fighting fire. Towards the end of his career and into retirement, Steve enjoyed the hobby of hot air ballooning with his favorite pilot, Ginny.

In recent years Steve returned to the land that he loved and built his dream home with the help of friends.

Steves gentle strength, love and kindness will be missed by all. He truly was a good person.

Per his request, a simple and casual memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, May 17th at 2:00 pm at the Sam Tobias picnic area in Cedar Creek, located behind the Forest Service Ranger Station at 901 Mechem Dr. in Ruidoso.
