Celebration of Life for Sam Hammond, 78, of Picacho will be Tuesday, April 28, at 1:00 PM at the Lazy Dollar Cemetery on the Lazy Dollar Ranch at Picacho. Mr. Hammond was born September 13, 1930 at Media, Pennsylvania and passed away Friday, April 24, in Truth or Consequences, NM. Mr. Hammond moved to Lincoln County in 1979 from Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. He married Beverly on July 7, 1979 at Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed cattle, sheep, horses and being a Cowboy. He loved being in western movies, Young Guns, the Desperado and Lucky Luck series, and the movie Twins. He had also served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three sons, John Hammond, Samuel H. Hammond III, and William Hammond; step-children, Kathleen Cole, Barbara Tibbetts, and Scott McIntire; a brother and two sisters, John Hammond, Betsy Tillman, and Mary Hammond; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
