Sadie Comanche

Sadie Lester Comanche, born June 2, 1947, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born in Mescalero, New Mexico and raised in the Windmill Area. The daughter of Frank Lester Sr and Paula Lester, Sadie was the last of the Lesters. 

Sadie worked as a Mental Health Tech for Indian Health Services for 32 years. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and a cherished and treasured grandmother. Her joy came from her love of family and building of her relationship with God.

Sadie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Rex Comanche Sr; daughter, Joellyn; son-in-law, Howard; daughter-in-law, Karla; grandson, Kyren; two granddaughters, Bailey and Jolee, whom she loved, adored, and cared for dearly; her youngest brother, Steven Dominguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and God children.

Sadie is preceded in death by her son, Rex “Bogs” Comanche, Jr; her parents; and her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held at LaGrone Funeral Chapel from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Monday, February 24, 2025. Procession to St. Joseph’s Apache Mission Church will take place after the visitation and the Rosary service will begin at 6:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00am Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Apache Mission Church in Mescalero. Interment will follow at the Windmill Area Cemetery on the family’s homestead. 

Pallbearers are Dennis Randoluph, Ronnie Randoluph, Mathias Yuzos, Nickolas Yuzos , Torn Enjady, Marval Lester, Tyson Lester, and Michael Troy Torres.

Honorary pallbearers are Beth Sunrise, Marina Mendez, Christie LaPaz, Garnett LaPaz, Vonda Tso, Daniel Glass, Christine Duffy, Sharon Duffy, Kara Cervantes, Eugene Botella, and Cindy Cervantes.
