Ruth Parker

Ruth Marie Parker Schmidt of Alto passed away unexpectedly March 19th. Born in Buffalo, NY she spent much of her childhood and young adulthood in San Diego, CA where she met her beloved husband Ben L Parker who preceded her in death in 2003.

Ruth is survived by her three children: Steven C. Parker of South Riding, VA; Cathy J. Wagener Richard of Los Angeles, CA; Terry A. Swanson Dennis of Ironwood MI; and her grandchildren: Jeff Wagener, Erica Disney Wagener and Lindsey Posey Parker and 2 great grandchildren.

Throughout her years Ruth lived each day to its fullest, enjoyed the great outdoors hiking and exploring the many places she and Ben lived. As an Air Force wife she lived in Brazil, Japan, Kansas, Alabama, Hawaii, Colorado, Texas, Virginia, Florida, and New Mexico. She especially loved the Alto area with its mountains, close knit community and her many friends.

Ruth learned to fly while still a young mother. After raising three children and holding several professional positions with various firms in the Washington DC area, she gave up her position as Security Chief with a Pentagon consulting firm to join her husband in retirement and travel the US in a motor home for nearly 15 years.

She was an active member of the Alto Country Club, especially enjoying golf and bridge on an almost daily basis. Ruth was particularly proud to be the current President of the Alto Womens Club.

A memorial service will be held Friday, 27 March, at the Alto Country Club.
