Roy N. Dow was born in Carrizozo, NM on January 3, 1932 to Eugene C. Dow and Jennie Peppin Dow. He was the youngest of 11 children. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Esther Lewis, Ben Dow, Gene Dow, Ralph Dow, Sam Dow, Orville Dow, Liz Branham, Jo Hoffman, Earl Dow, and Art Dow as well as their parents.
Roy Graduated from Carrizozo High School in 1950 and shortly thereafter joined the Air Force. He served in Newfoundland during the Korean War. After his time in the service Roy attended Durham Business College in Lubbock. He then went to work for Western Union, where he traveled the western states as a Relief Manager for operators on vacation. Later in his Western Union career Roy managed his own office in Las Cruces, NM. After retiring from Western Union, he decided it was time to settle down and moved back to Carrizozo where he opened The Gift Gallery. In 1978 he moved the store down the street to its current locationThe Historic Padens Drug Store that we know today as Roys Gift Gallery, which was his dream come true. Roy enjoyed the Carrizozo community, he participated in the Carrizozo Little Theatre, enjoyed singing, playing Santa Claus and numerous other activities. He also kept up to date by texting and surfing the web.
Uncle Roy was loved by many, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews, countless friends and many good memories. Although he is physically gone his presence left a big stamp on our hearts and will missed more than we can say.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Carrizozo.
