Visitation for Roy C. Crumley, 71, of Ruidoso will be Sunday, July 8, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Graveside services will be Monday, July 9, at 11:00 AM in the Ruidoso Hondo Valley Cemetery near Ruidoso Downs with the Rev. Al Lane officiating. Mr. Crumley passed away Wednesday, July 4, in Ruidoso. He was born December 9, 1935 in Carrizozo to Bessie and Earl Crumley who both precede him in death. Mr. Crumley retired from GTE in 1998 after 29 years of service as an outside plant engineer. Since his retirement he and his wife have enjoyed traveling and seeing all the places they always wanted to see, including a wonderful trip to Alaska last August. He enjoyed the ourdoors, fishing, hunting and working in his yard. Roy was an avid NASCAR fan and looked forward each week to the next race. Roy was a lifetime member of the Truth or Consequences Fire Department. He moved to Ruidoso in 1980 from Truth or Consequences. He married Pat Helfrich on December 9, 1969 in Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat; daughters, Joyce Smith and her husband Kenneth of Las Vegas, Nevada and Susan Males and her husband David of Roswell; sisters, Lillian Swift of Carrizozo, Atla Smith and her husband Jerry of El Paso and Billie Blackwell and her husband Jim of Aztec; her grandchildren, Sara McGinness and her husband Brett, Jennifer Smith, Kenna Smith, Patty Males, Janette Males, David Males Jr. and Starlin Males, numberous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Clark and a brother, Clayton Crumley.
