He had always lived in the family home in Mescalero with his niece Earldina and her two sons Julian and Paco. His personality was that of a cowboy. He was always known to help others with making wood or dong yard work. His family was very important to him, as he would make an effort of checking on his nieces, nephews and grandchildren almost daily althought it meant walking to get to their homes. He showed great respect for the traditions and cultural ways of the Mescalero Apache people, particularly the dance of the Mountain Gods. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest Botella and Mary Fatty Botella; three brothers, Emmett Botrella, Arthur Botella and Aldred Botella; two sisters, Daisy Botella Belin and Edith Botella Morgan. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren as well as his extended family members.
