A memorial service for Ralph I. Ebener, 74, of Las Cruces and formerly of Ruidoso will be Friday, Jan. 23, at 1:00 PM in LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Ebener passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, in Denver, Colorado. He was born May 18, 1934 in Oglesby, Illinois to Adela and Lewis Ebener who both precede him in death. He made a career by serving in the Army and retiring as a Major and had served in Korean and Vietnam Wars. He moved to Ruidoso in June, 1994 from Germany and then moved to El Paso in 2000 and then to Las Cruces in 2005. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and attended Community United Methodist Church in Ruidoso. He is survived by his Martha, who he married on December 24, 1983 at Hale Center, Texas; a son, Retired Lt. Colonel Ralph I. Ebener of Alexandria, Virginia; a daughter, Laura J. Williams and her husband Jeff of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Erin and Jason Williams of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; 4 brothers, Lewis H. Ebener Jr. of Peru, Illinois, Robert W. Ebener of Oglesby, Illlinois, Courtney J. Ebener of Peru, Illinois and Richard Ebener of Ruidoso. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Armeda.
