Visitation for Pauline LaPaz, 90, of Mescalero will be Monday, Jan. 7, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, the prayer service will be Monday at 6:00 PM at St. Joseph's Mission where the funeral mass will be on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the LaPaz Cemetery. Ms. LaPaz passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Mescalero Care Center. She was born December 23, 1917 in Mescalero to Maura and James LaPaz. She served in the Army during World War II and after her service in the military she worked at the Mescalero Indian Hospital until her retirement, she also ran the Mescalero Laundry and worked at the Day School at Elk. She was a very devoted member of St. Joseph's Mission. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kathryn Kaydahzinne, Lynell Kaydahzinne, Joel Antonio, and Jerome Antonio; a brother, Lewis LaPaz and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her primary caregivers, Alfred LaPaz, Myra LaPaz, and Jennifer Byers. She was preceded in death by her adoptive daughter, Adaline Ada Pinto; brothers and sisters, Frank LaPaz, Leo LaPaz Sr., Christie LaPaz Sr., Mammie tortilla, Rachael Chee, Lena Kirgan, and Emily LaPaz Scott.
