Paul Franklin "Frank" Thompson, Jr,
Ruidoso - Longtime Ruidoso resident Paul Franklin "Frank" Thompson, Jr. passed away from natural causes on January 12, 2021. Frank was 87 years old. Frank is predeceased by his parents and his sister Jean Howard.
Frank was born in Los Angeles, California to Paul and Grace Thompson. Frank graduated from Whittier College and then became a teacher in Whittier, California. Frank taught English and Visual Arts at Pioneer High School for almost forty years. Frank lived in Long Beach, California and then Whittier, California.
Frank first visited friends in Ruidoso over Christmas break in 1997. He enjoyed the skiing and community so much that he then retired from teaching and moved to Ruidoso.
Over the years Frank had many friends whose company he enjoyed so much. He loved the theater, movies, the outdoors and everything that Ruidoso had to offer. He also was a tireless volunteer for so many organizations including the local Democratic clubs and Carrizozo Music Inc where he served on the Graphic Arts committee. Many of the fliers you have seen around town were created by Frank.
A US Army veteran, Frank's remains will be placed in a columbarium at Fort Stanton. Per Frank in an email a few year ago - "I'm not going underground. That is far too dark for me."
A celebration of Frank's life is pending. Look for a flyer soon!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's honor at the Carrizozo Music, Inc. https://www.carrizozomusic.org/donate
