Patricia Thompson

June 1, 1924 — December 15, 2010

Patricia Pat Thompson passed away on December 15, 2010. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eleanors Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 21st , at 10AM, followed by the interment of the ashes at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Ruidoso, at 11:00AM.

Patricia was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on June 1, 1924, to Barbara Waters Lyons and Arthur C. Lyons. She was educated at St. Rita School in Detroit, Michigan, and attended Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, until she enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1944. She was assigned to the Department of the Navy Headquarters in Washington D.C. until September 1946.

After her Naval service she rejoined her family in Albuquerque, NM, where she attended the University of New Mexico, receiving a BA degree in 1950.

While attending the University, she met her husbandtobe, John W. Thompson who later served as a NM Assistant District Attorney, Village Attorney for Ruidoso, NM, and then, Probate Judge for Lincoln County, NM. They were married on November 3, 1950, in Albuquerque. Their only child, Robert, was born a year later.

Pat worked as a legal secretary for her husband, until his retirement. Then she worked at White Mountain Development Company, in Ruidoso, until 2003. She also served as Secretary, and later President, of the Eagle Creek Water Users Association.

She was an active member of her Church, serving in various capacities, including as Lector.

Patricias brothers, Laurence, Robert and Richard Lyons preceded her in passing. Survivors are her son, a sisterinlaw, three nieces and a nephew, several grand nieces and nephews and a great grandniece.

The family has requested memorials to your favorite charity. Since it is the Christmas Season, perhaps the Salvation Army would be a good choice, if you have no personal preference.
