Orlando Montes Jr., 76, of Glencoe passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 in Ruidoso. He was born September 9, 1942 at Ft. Stanton, NM to Orlando Montes Sr. and Cecilia Chavez Montes who have both preceded him in death. He had lived in Lincoln County all of his life.
His passion and love was racing horses, he loved his grandkids and watching them play sports. He served as a Deputy for Lincoln County Sheriff Office retiring in 2004 after 17 years of service.
He married Viola Trujillo on July 22, 1961 at Roswell and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2015.
He is survived by his children, Veronica Montano and her husband Chito of Show Low, AZ, Corinne Prudencio and her husband Fabian of Glencoe, Ray Montes and his wife, Norma of Ruidoso Downs, Mary Prudencio and her husband, Edwin of San Patricio, Jerome Montes of Ruidoso and Maria Olayo and her husband, Sal of Alamogordo; two brothers, David Montes of Glencoe and Michael Montes of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Montes and Filbert Montes.
The rosary will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 8:30 AM with the funeral mass to follow at 9:00 AM in St. Jude Catholic Church at San Patricio. Burial will follow at San Ysidro Cemetery.
