Nedra Hobbs

Nedra Mae "Smith" Hobbs passed from this world on February 19, 2020.  Born to Terrell Alexander Smith and Orene Mae Jones of February 26, 1941, Nedra was the youngest of 5 siblings and the only girl.  She graduated from Los Lunas a year early, then was working as a bank teller when she met her One Great Love, Joe W. Hobbs.  They married on March 21, 1959.

Nedra raised 4 children while following Joe from jobs on the railroads, feedlots, and eventually settling in Badger Pocket for about 40 years before retiring to Carrizozo, NM.

Nedra was preceded in death by 3 of her brothers, David, Terry and Wendell; her husband, Joe, and her eldest son, Pete O. Hobbs.  She is survived by her brother, Bob; her daughters, Jovon Taussig and Jeanna Snell, her youngest son, Duncan; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Nedra was a gentle soul who believed in raising her children with common sense and a green thumb, for no matter where she moved, there were always roses.

Her funeral service was Saturday, February 29, at the Carrizozo United Methodist Church and burial followed at Cedarvale Cemetery in White Oaks.
