Mary Dean

Mary Irene Dean was born July 28th, 1919 in Tatum New Mexico to parents William and Minerva Wallace. She is preceded in death by daughter Carrie Fay, Husband William Gerald Dean and Grandson William Grant Dean. Mary is survived by her son Gerald Dean Jr (Kathy Dean) of Capitan, New Mexico, daughter Janie Corley of Belen, New Mexico, grandchildren Rodney Dean (Charis), Tamara Willingham (Andy), Joe Paul Randle (Janell), and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition, two expected great, great-grandchildren .

In 1959, Mary and her husband, Gerald, moved from Lovington to Capitan New Mexico where they opened "Dean Hardware". Planting their roots together, nearly seventy-five years later, Mary has lived what many of us hope to achieve-- a long life full of smiles, adventure, love and a lasting legacy. She will always be remembered as a mentor, a pillar of the community, a matriarch of the Capitan Church of Christ and last, but not least, a loving "Mama" to her family and friends.

To sum up Mary's ninety-six years of life in a single paragraph would be impossible, but her name alone says something even more uniquely special to everyone she came into contact with. She was wonderful beyond words. For her family, her name, "Mama", is comprised of love, wisdom and legacy.

As they say, "Birth is a blessing, life is a journey and death is a celebration". We know Mary is having quite the celebration in heaven.
Services will be held at the Capitan Church of Christ on July 27th, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. followed by the burial in Lovington Cemetery at 4:00 P.M. The visitation will be Saturday, July 25, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso

The family has requested memorials to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, New Mexico 88130.
