Marilyn Rose Kolander went to her heavenly home on April 10, 2011 after a valiant battle with leukemia. she was 75 years of age. Marilyn was born March 3, 1936 to erick and Rose Schirrschmidt in Nicollet, Minnesota. She was baptized in St. Pauls L:utheran Churc on March 15, 1936 in Mankato, MN and confirmed in the faith December 4, 1949 in Tucson, AZ at Faith Lutheran Church.

On February 21, 1954 Marily married Vernon Richard Kolander in alpha, MN and enjoyed 40 years of marriage. She was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Atwater, CA and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in turlock, CA. In 1999 she decided to make her home in Ruidoso, NM.

An active member of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League, Marilyn served in various capacities at the society, zone, and district levels in the CaliforniaNevadaHawaii District. She loved attending LWML retreats and conventions. she delighted in reading, knitting, butterflies and traveling, making church banners, playing the organ, singing in the choir, and leading bible sutdies.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother Eldo, parents, Erick and Rose, and husband Vernon. She is survived by her loving sister Terrie and her husband retired Reverend Lee Butz of Zionsville, IN daughter, Kari Dawn Kolander of Ruidoso son
Reverend Kevin Kolander and his wife Christina of Lake Elsinore, CA four grandchildren, Adam, Austin, Noah, and Luke Kolander of Lake Elsinore, CA several nieces and nephews, her great great grand niece Kiera dear friends too many to namae and her beloved Lucky and Noel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Ruidoso at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 16. The family has requested memorials to the First Lutheran Church, 600 W. Sumner Ave., Lake Elsinore, CA 92530 pastored by her son, Rev. Kevin Lee Kolander.
