Lydia Shanta-Tso

Lydia Rose Shanta-Tso, was born on October 15, 1963 in Mescalero, New Mexico and passed on December 10, 2020 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Lydia is preceded in death by her parents Asa Daklugie Shanta, Sr. and Martha Catherine Sago-Shanta. She is survived by her children Emerson Shanta, Dannalyn Blake, Regena Pinto, and Dylan Blake. By her two grandson’s Danny and Jeremiah Shanta and three granddaughter’s Sheriah Shanta, Daeleen and Jessariah Pinto. Lydia held a special bond with her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Norena Whitebird, Dara Shanta, Linda Carrillo, Loretta Shanta, Asa Shanta, Jr., and Carl Buurma. Also by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lydia attended Tularosa High School.  Lydia was employed with various departments of the Mescalero Apache Tribe prior to her employment with the Mescalero Care Center for sixteen years. She expressed passion for her employment; she held a special bond with staff and patient’s from the Care Center. She was Catholic and a member of the St. Joseph’s Apache Mission Catholic Church. During her spare time she enjoyed cooking, country rides, making crafts, spending time with family and friends. She was the strength and encouragement of our family. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
