Louise Morton

A memorial service for Louise Morton will be held at First Christian Church, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. followed by a reception at the Church. A private family service will be held prior in the Church Memorial Prayer Garden. Mrs. Morton passed away October 29, 2009 at her home in Alto following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Cambridge, Ohio on March 8, 1933 to Warren Joyce Ewing and Edna DeHart Ewing. Louise was a graduate of Cambridge High School and Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She moved to Albuquerque where she met and married John Morton in 1961.

The Mortons lived in Modesto, California where Mrs. Morton worked in a hospital laboratory. After returning to Albuquerque in 1963, Mrs. Morton worked fo a private laboratory and the University of New Mexico Medical Center. After moving to LaLuz, NM in 1983, Mrs. Morton continued her career of caring for others as a Medical Technologist. She began her employment with the U.S. Public Health Service at the Indian Health Service Hospital in Mescalero. She also worked at the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Service Unit in Warm Springs, Oregon for three years, returning to new Mexico in 1995, to again work with her friends at Mescalero. She retired as Laboratory Supervisor in 1997.

Mrs. Morton was a 50 year member of the American Society of Medical Technologist. She enjoyed tennis and most outdoor activities. She enjoyed seeing the beauty of God's creation wherever she was. She was member of Lincoln County Bird Club. While a member of Sierra Blance Chapter of DAR she did much research into the history of her American Patriot ancestors. She was a member of First Christian Church of Ruidoso.

Mrs. Morton is survived by her husband John of Alto; brothers, Foster Ewing of Kent, OH and Winson Ewing and his wife Lois of Clinton, WA; sister's in law, Paula McVey and her husband Lowell and Ann Wiles her husband Lowell. She also leaves 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Rosalie and brother Edwin. A kind and caring person, Louise Morton will be missed by all who knew her.
