Lara Steen

Lara Lyn Ratliff Steen passed from her mothers arms at home in Ruidoso to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 24, 2011 after surgery and chemo in her battle with ovarian cancer.

Lara was born December 31, 1964 in Ruidoso, NM. Her adult life was spent in helping heal others in her position as an RN in cardiac care. She also held certifications as an EMT with specialties in CCU, ICU and NICU.

Survived by her daughter, Serena Parker Reiersgaard, husband Jud and children Jayden and Blake, mother and stepfather, Bill and Karita Dean, sisters Karita Jonine Sullivan, Gena Beth Whitlock, nieces Erin Sullivan, Meagan Kirby, Desara Boehm and Dara Whitlock and nephew Daniel Whitlock, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and beloved Chihuahuas, Amarillo and Baby Girl. She was preceded in death by son, Wesley Dale Parker, father Bill Ratliff and grandparents William and Viola Morris and A D and Jewel Ratliff.

Memorial service will be held at First Christian Church on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow along with Wesley will be at the First Christian Church Memorial Garden.

The family has requested donations be made to First Christian Church or the Ruidoso Hospice Foundation.
