Lamoyne Carpenter

Byron Lamoyne Carpenter, 80, of Capitan, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Alamogordo, NM.

He was the youngest of seven children born to John Otis and Mary Inez Carpenter on January 6, 1933.

He was a long time Lincoln County Real Estate Broker, known as the Land Man of Capitan.

He loved going fishing and taking care of his racehorses. He was an active member of the Capitan Community serving as a City Councilman and various boards including the Lincoln County Fair Board in the 60s and was instrumental in getting the Jr. Livestock Sale started. He volunteered to get buyers and he helped with it for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Otis and Mary Inez Carpenter four brothers, Harold, Bud, Rex and Cleo Carpenter two sisters, Nellie Jo Maberry and infant Margaret Melvina Carpenter one son Steven Lee Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home, three sons, Danny Wood, Byron Lynn Carpenter, Norvell Carpenter and wife Kateri, one daughter Donna Harkey and husband Steve, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Canaan Trail Baptist Church at Angus, NM on Monday, August 5, at 1:00 and burial will be at the Capitan Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Shane Carpenter, Ben Carpenter, Mark Carpenter, Doug Carpenter, Doyle Carpenter, Ronnie Carpenter, Otis Carpenter and Karlton Reed.

Honorary pallbearers are Sam Hammons, Pat Huey, James Taylor, Bob Stearns, Jack Hefker, Archie Witham, Dusty Voss, Thomas Montes, and Roy Parker.
