Kevin Dwayne Cheatham, 51 years old, passed away on August 18, 2024, in his home in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Kevin was born on January 27, 1973, to Ken and Teresa Cheatham in the Army hospital at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. Shortly after his birth his family moved back to Lubbock, Texas. Kevin’s early years were spent in the company of his siblings, Kory and Melissa, where they forged a bond that would last a lifetime. Kevin attended Texas Tech University and then finished his bachelor’s in finance at the University of North Texas in Denton. Kevin married and had three children Hunter, Hadley, & Hudson (preceded in death). Kevin was a man after God’s own heart, known for his generous spirit, his infectious smile, and love for his friends and family. Kevin enjoyed working with his hands, being outdoors, and playing games with family. His fishing, hunting, skiing, and camping adventures were not just pastimes but a means to connect with nature and those he loved.
In October 2022 God put Kevin and Kim together to be given a second chance. They joined First Baptist Church in Ruidoso where he became the worship leader. Kevin became a grandfather to Elia Jade on July 4th 2024 and enjoyed FaceTiming with her. Kevin was happiest when he was worshipping God and even through his darkest valleys he continued to sing Him praises. His faith in God is what kept his hope and positive outlook on life till the very end.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his close-knit family, church family, and friends.
Kevin is buried at the Gavilan Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ruidoso, New Mexico
