Prayer service for Kay Olvera, 68, of Ruidoso will be Wednesday, May 5, at 6:00 PM at St. Eleanors Catholic Church where the funeral mass will be on Thursday, May 6, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
She passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at her home, she was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on April 6, 1942 as an only child. She married her husband Trini Olvera in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico on July 24, 1959. They raised their family of 7 children and were devoted to helping the less fortunate. They moved to Ruidoso in 1981. She worked and played the organ at St. Eleanors Church for a period of time. She was instrumental in organizing the Secular Franciscan Order Santa Chiara in Mescalero. At an early age, she became a devoted Catholic. Her relationship with God gave her strength throughout her life and enabled her to endure her final trying years with a smile and a sense of peace. She will be missed and carried in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Brown Roff, her father Clarence V Roff, and stepmother Evelyn Roff.
She is survived by husband Trinidad Olvera her children Juan and Maria Olvera, Cesar and Deanna Olvera, Elizabeth and Gabriel Del Real, Veronica and Cesar Gomez, Francisco and Cinda Olvera, Angie Olvera and Jay Julian, and Amy and Joaquin de Monet her grandchildren Anya, Alyssa and Aly Olvera Lupe, Roberto, Erica, and Vianney Herrerera Adrian, Fabian, Marisa and Ericka Olvera Katie, C.J., and Alex Gomez Christopher, Hannah, and Mary Kathryn Olvera and Catalina and Mia De Monet her great grandchild Camden Olvera.
The family has requested memorials to the Humane Society of Lincoln County.
