Karen Sue Williams Rose
On November 30, 2021, Susie finally got her wish and is now rejoicing with our Lord, past family and friends. She passed peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on March 15, 1936, to James Francis Williams and Sarah Katherine Tavener. When she was a small child, her family moved to Vallejo, CA so her father could build ships during war times. In 1945, the family moved to Odessa, TX where her father and 3 uncles started Odessa Valve and Machine Shop, which later grew to be known as Western Tank and Shamrock Steel. She graduated from Odessa High School, in 1954. She was quite talented as a vocalist and pianist. At Odessa College, she met Martin (M.A.) Rose and they were married, in 1956. She and M.A. spent 4 years in Kansas while M.A. went to an art college. In 1960, they returned to Odessa where she was a devoted housewife and mother. In the early 1970’s, they opened their home to host Odessa Bible Church and Campus Crusade. In the late 1960’s they purchased and renovated a cabin, in Ruidoso, NM as they discovered a love for snow skiing. In 1977, the family moved to Ruidoso, NM. Susie loved snow skiing, hiking and renovating cabins.
