Julie Wilson

Our beloveds only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Julie (Bechtol) Wilson rejoined her heavenly family on October 7, 2021, and gained her wings. She was 66 years old.

Through Julie, we know what resilience, strength, and perseverance truly look like. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined, and participated in two clinical trials to help further medical knowledge on successful treatments. Not a fan of attention, Julie would quickly change the subject when someone would inquire of her health and ask them about their life instead. When anyone else would have surrendered, Julie stayed strong, celebrating brief periods of respite from treatments with running 5-K’s, hiking to mountain tops, or cooking her family a wonderful meal.

Julie was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother (Oma). She cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Julie was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She was an avid sports fan, an amazing home chef, and fitness enthusiast.

Julie was born in 1954 in Sendai, Japan, to parents Harley and Maria Bechtol, and older sisters Linda Bechtol and Rose (Bechtol) Campbell. Julie attended Andress High School, El Paso, TX, and graduated from Weed High School, NM. Julie married Steve Wilson in 1973. She was the former secretary for the City of Snyder.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Hedwig Bechtol.

She is survived by her husband, sisters, her daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Kimberly Wilson and D.J. Verret; son and daughter-in-law, Col. Clint and Hayley (Patterson) Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Jenny (Chandler) Wilson; seven grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews.

Funeral services will be at Lagrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso, NM, on Sunday, October 10, at 10:00 am.
