Prayer service for Jonathan Johnny Chee, 62, of Mescalero will be Friday, Sept. 4, at 6:00 PM in the Mescalero Reformed Church where the funeral will be on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the Whitetail Cemetery. Mr. Chee passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at Mescalero where he was born on June 9, 1947 and had lived in the Whitetail District area until he went off to school and graduated from Chilocco Indian School on May 23, 1966. He joined the Army where he was a member of the 3rd BDE 1st Air Calvary Division from June 26, 1967 and worked as a helicopter Gunner in the Vietnam War with a Honorable Discharge on June 1, 1973. Johnny also worked at Ski Apache and Cow Camp 1. Johnny is survived by a sister, Iris Geronimo; niece, Jonelle Geronimo; grandaughter Jonita Geronimo; nieces, Joleen, Neida and Belva Geronimo; nephew, Robert Lensen Geronimo; granddaughters, Lauren and Kristalynn Geronimo; grandson, Robert Sam Geronimo; nieces, Myran Hanks, Joan Hanks; granddaughter, Devin Hanks, Carole Hanks; granddaughters, Keesah and Savannah Hanks; nephews, Lynn Hanks; nephew, Keevin Chee; Zeb Smith and family, Florine Smith and family, Lynette Kanseah and family, Kaylee Tissnolthos and family and numerous other relatives. Johnny is preceded in death by a sister, Adrianne Hanks; parents, Gladys and Monroe Chee and two brothers, Frederick and Myron Chee.
