Johnny "John" Ramos, 63, of Ruidoso Downs, NM was called home to our Heavenly Father on July 13,2016, In Ruidoso Downs, NM. John was born in Las Cruces, NM to Raymundo and Juanita Ramos on August 11,1952. John grew up with his 2 brothers, Arturo and Albert, and his sister Yolanda. A born athlete, a friendly face with an infectious smile, John never knew an enemy. A full football scholarship brought him to Tressa when they both attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, KA. John and Tressa married on March 16,1974, in Las Cruses, NM. John worked for the Village of Ruidoso for 30 years and retired in 2008 as Plant Director only to return in 2010 as a Lab Technician; to serve the Village with his wealth of knowledge and respected leadership^. John was a decorated and respected Village worker, who was beloved by all who worked with him. While he will be missed by so many, none as grievously as the softball community; not only in Ruidoso, but in the whole of the state of New Mexico. As a pitcher, a coach, an umpire, and a friend, John was a predominant member of the softball community; a community and family that they raised their three beautiful daughters in. A stranger to no one, John considered the softball community his second family.
Above all else, John loved his family. As a devoted and loving son, John cherished his entire family and shared a very deep love with his mother. John adored his daughters and loved them fiercely. All three girls had special connections to their Dad; he was their hero above all heroes. His daughters will carry him in their hearts forever. John was forever loving and devoted to his wife, Tressa, in every way. He built her fires to keep her warm, held the door for her every single time, and made sure she had a strong shoulder to lean on. They shared everything in life, but they were most proud and blessed to have shared their 3 perfect daughters; and later their even more perfect grandchildren. To his grandchildren, he was "Papo" - the one who fixed toys, made the best wooden tree swings, and could be counted on for anything and everything they needed. Family was John's number one priority, and his biggest source of pride. Family, above all else, was John's foundation and core belief.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Tressa; his daughter Monique and her partner Julia Gonzalez; his daughters, Simona and Ariana; and his grandchildren: Cyler John, Kimmi, Talyn, and Kamari. John is also survived by his mother, Juanita, and his brother, Albert; along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family.
John was preceded in death by his first grandson, Jaden; his father, Raymundo; his sister, Yolanda; and his brother, Arturo.

An account will be set up at First National Bank for donations to help The Ramos Family. The family has been profoundly touched by the outpouring of support by our community and would like to thank everyone who has held us in their prayers during this unspeakably difficult time.
A man, taken too soon to understand and forever missed by all who knew him. John will forever live on in the hearts of his family and in the memories of his friends. Until we meet again, watch over us like you always have and protect us as we navigate a world without you. We love you Dad.
