A celebration service for Joe O. Najar, 74, of Carrizozo will be Saturday, April 5, at 2:00 PM at the Carrizozo Assembly of God Church with a fellowship dinner to follow. Mr. Najar was born on March 20, 1934 in Hagerman, New Mexico to Estahislado Najar and Susanna Ortega. Joe was the second eldest brother of eleven children. He served honorably as a United States Marine and retired as a plumber and made his residence in Carrizozo in 1986. Mr. Najar was preceded in death by his parents, Estahislado and Susanna Najar; brothers, David Najar, Eloy Najar, and Daniel Najar and a sister, Dalila Kraft. He is survived by his children, Edward Najar and his wife Luanne of Littlerock, Arkansas, Rita Richardson and her husband Kenny of Phoenix, Arizona, Teresa Marrufo and her husband Tomas of Carrizozo, and Andrea Thorton of Pueblo, Colorado; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Pedro Najar and his wife Yolanda of San Joes, California, Samuel Najar of Roswell, Benina Benavides and her husband Andres of Albuquerque, Delfina Hinsz and her husband Leroy of Alamogordo, Francis Hines and her husband Burl of Arizona, and Estella Ochoa of San Jose, California.
