Joe Herrera

Funeral mass for Joe S. Herrera, 88, of Carrizozo will be Thursday, August 4, at 10:00 AM at Santa Ritas Catholic Church in Carrizozo with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Herrera passed away Thursday, July 28, at his home. He was born September 24, 1922 at Carrizozo.

Mr. Herrera has lived in Lincoln County all of his life. He served in the Army during World War II, he retired from the Department of the Air Force Civil Service at Holloman Air Force Base. He married Ida Vega on October 25, 1942 at Carrizozo.

He is survived by his wife, Ida V. Herrera a son, Robert Herrera two step brothers, Floyd Herrera and Ernest Herrera four sisters, Rosa Prudencio, Civilia Guiterrez, Emma Utter and Lisa Herrera one grandson, Joe Don Herrera and his wife, Cheri three great grandchildren, Chelsea, Gavin, and Isabelle. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachael Herrera and two brothers, Percy Herrera and Benny Herrera.
