Jean Schaerer

Jean Margaret Keitch Schaerer passed away peacefully, April 23, 2013 at the Casita de Cura in Alto, NM.

She was born August 2, 1929 to Frederick John and Amy Violet Keitch. Jean grew up in Birmingham, England. After 20 happy years in a hotel career, Jean met Victor, Capt. E. V. Schaerer, in 1960 and they married in London in 1961. They lived in England, Bahrain and the U.S., enjoying travel made possible by Victors career and making loyal lifelong friends around the world. They also had a special love of dogs and raised and enjoyed a number of canine companions over the years.

Jean and Victor retired first in Texas but then discovered Ruidoso, with its cooler temperatures and friendly community, they found it the perfect place to enjoy the rest of their lives. Sadly, Victor died in 2000.

It was Jeans wish that she not have a funeral. She had no regrets at the end of her life, and wanted those she leaves to remember the happiness she and Victor had with the life they chose.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Good.

She is survived by stepchildren, Wendy Schaerer of Ithaca, NY, Patricia Good of Lititz, PA, Scott Schaerer of Oklahoma City, OK seven grandchildren two great granddaughters and dear friends in the U.S., England and New Zealand.

The family has requested memorials to the Humane Society of Lincoln County.

Graveside service will be Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 AM at Ft. Stanton Cemetery.
