Jean Riga

Jean Montes Riga, 73, beloved Mother and Daughter, was called to her eternal resting place on February 25, 2023. She entered this world on September 25, 1949 in Hondo, NM, born to Serapio and Lucinda Montes. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bennie Montes, Efren (Ruby) Montes, and Mike Montes.

She is survived by her son Brian (Tera) Riga, of Bay AR, and three grandchildren, Brianna (Jake) Martin of Jonesboro AR, Bethany Riga of Columbia, SC, and Elijah Riga of Bay, AR, one brother, Claudio (Jenny) Montes of Hurley NM, sister-in law, Vangie Montes of Silver City NM and several close nieces and nephews.

Jean served in the Army from 1968 - 1971.

She was certified in TEFL/TESOL from the International TEFL Academy, in Leon, Nicaragua. She received her Masters of Arts: Adult Education/Distance Learning, and a Masters of Arts: Education/English as a Second Language Degrees from The University of Phoenix, and Bachelor of Arts: Spanish, and Bachelor of Science: Computer Information Specialist degrees from Arkansas State University. She worked as a Spanish Credential Translator/Admission Evaluator at the University of Phoenix from 1997-2016, at which time she retired.

When Jean wasn't going to school and teaching, she loved to travel, read, and spending time with her friends.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Capitan, NM.
