Jayro B. Treas, born February 19, 1939 in Mescalero and went to be with the Lord and Savior on August 21, 2012. He went peacefully in his sleep at Mescalero IHS Hospital. He lived his entire life in Mescalero except for the time he attended Boarding School in Albuquerque. He worked for the Mescalero Apache Tribe as a caregiver in the orphanage, Cow Camp and the Tribal Offices, to name a few and retired from there.
He is survived by his son, Dominic Peso and grandson, Tristin of Mescalero daughter, Rudene Zumwalt and grandsons, Troy,Casey, Bjorlin and Justin and granddaughter Jeline and two great grandsons, Malakai and Uriah all of Nogal his daughter, Virginia Hernandez and her five children all of Roswell sisters, Gina Notsinneh, Joan Treas, Belva Choneska all of Mescalero brother, Woodrow Wilson his caregiver and niece, Janice Treas and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Abner Treas and Jean Kanseah brother, Alvin Treas sisters, Mary Treas, Sharlene Treas, Minerva Treas, Ruthelda Treas and Beulah Treas. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He also enjoyed horses, movies, walking, singing with the church and traditional songs of Mescalero and playing the harmonica.
Prayer service will be Sunday, August 26, at 6:00 PM at the Mescalero Baptist Church where the funeral will be on Monday, August 27, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
