James Stephens

James Stephens passed away Wednesday, July 3rd at his home in Ruidoso, NM.  James was born in Abilene, Texas, January 17, 1952 to Wynn and Claudia Stephens.  James graduated from Slaton High School and attended Texas Tech University.  On July 8, 1972 he married Donna Dorman in Lubbock, Texas, and they made their home in Ruidoso in 1975.  James was a longtime owner and operator of Radio Shack in Ruidoso.

James was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Ruidoso .  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed practical shooting competitions.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  His German Shorthair Pointer, Sally, was his failthful companion.

James was preceded in death, by his parents Wynn and Claudia Stephens, of Slaton, Texas, in-laws, Don and Mildred Dorman of California. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna; son, Eric and wife Becky Stephens of Ruidoso; daughter, Heather Stephens of Silver City, NM, and grandchildren, Kenyon, Gregory, Mekhi, Gillian, and Zarek. He is also survived by his  brother Claude and wife Phyllis of Lubbock, Tx, , sister Kay and husband Woody Follis of Wilson, TX. as well as a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations sent to Encompass Health - Hospice, 1096 Mechem Drive, Suite 302 B, Ruidoso, NM  88345.
