Henry Sanchez

October 4, 1927 — February 14, 2014

Life ended for Henry G. Sanchez, on February 14, 2014 as gently as the soul he was. He was known as a mentor, coach, and an incredible husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He dedicated his life to teaching and mentoring children of all ages. Up to the day he died, he always said that he loved helping young people to become the best they could be. Henry was admired for all the endless and unconditional love he gave so easily.

He spent the beginning of his life in Fort Stanton and Lincoln New Mexico attending Capitan High School, where he was a three sport letterman. After graduation, Henry enlisted in the Merchant Marines and Coast Guard, during WW II. Shortly after his discharge he attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and met the love of his life of 65 years Erma Valdez Sanchez. Henry began his teaching career at Emerson Elementary then to Wilson Junior High ending his career of 25 years at Highland High High School a total of 31 years with Albuquerque Public Schools. Henry and Erma lived in Albuquerque 40 years. In 1986 he retired and moved back to Lincoln, New Mexico, which he refereed to as his Paradise Henry loved his family, friends, students and loved tending his land and his apple orchards. He spent 27 years loving where he was with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Erma, daughter, Debbie S. Hudnall, soninlaw Bobby Hudnall, granddaughters, Erin Witt and Leah Hudnall, and great granddaughters, Evangeline Witt and Riley Hudnall from Dallas. Son Gary and wife Claudia, and stepgranddaughter, Nicole Joseph, of Albuquerque. Youngest Daughter Tina Sanchez of Tyler, Texas. Henry is also survived by brother, Alfred and Dorothy Sanchez , and sister Jean and Bill Osuna, and sister Patsy and Henry Vigil, along with many nieces and nephews

Services for Henry will be held on Friday, February 21 2014 in Lincoln, New Mexico at San Juan Church with a rosary at 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Fort Stanton. Henry will be greatly missed, but remembered by many
