Funeral services for H.L. Shorty Romans, 86, of Ruidoso will be Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 AM in First Baptist Church of Ruidoso with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Romans passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Ruidoso. He was born June 8, 1922 in Sweetwater, Texas to Maudie and John Romans. Mr. Romans was in the Navy during World War II. He loved to play dominos and loved to watch sports on television. At Plains, Texas he was a farmer and a member of the School Board, he moved to Ruidoso from Plains in 1968 and became a carpentar. He married Bette Jo Canon on October 8, 1943 at Lovington, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on October 4, 1998. He is survived by his son, Milton Romans and and his wife, Stephanie of Estancia; two daughters, Sandra West of Sedona, Arizona and Angelia Romans and her husband David Dean of Tularosa; a brother, R.D. Romans of Lubbock, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
