Greg Doyle

January 18, 1942 — December 12, 2009

Greg Doyle, born January 18, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to James Doyle and Jane Phillips Doyle, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Ruidoso, NM. Greg Doyle, my husband, love and best friend has passed away at home. A man of dignity, strength, courage and a true believer in God, stayed positive with an amazing attitude through these very difficult times. As many know, March 2009, Greg was diagnosed with Squamous Small Cell carcinoma, a type of lung cancer. He contracted this cancer while in the Navy aboard submarines that had abestos for insulation in the early 60's during the Vietnam War as a Navy Seal. After an extensive stay in Albuquerque, NM where he received chemo and radiation treatment at the V.A. and UNM hospitals, he came home to Ruidoso where the doctors said it would be best, and I was by his side through it all. Greg, a true fighter, he was, all the way until the very end. A long time resident of Ruidoso, NM, Greg was the golf course Superintendent of Kokopelli for the past thirteen years. He loved his job and crew and was sadden he had to quit the way he did. Greg was placed on hospice a short time after with Ruidoso Home Care and Hospice. Greg had such a love for many things in his life such as working with wood, old cars, watching Nascar, painting with oils, all types of music, especially good old rock 'n' roll, teaching and working with others, nature and animals, reading, always learning, a definite engineering brain with a degree in engineering, a deep love for family and friends. I have never known someone so smart, driven and determined as my husband. We shared a very deep love and bond, and someday will be together again. I love you Greg. Greg is survived by his wife, Manon Doyle of Ruidoso; daughter, Kristi Miller of Albuquerque; sister, Trish Chaney of Colorado Springs; brother, Phillip Doyle of Ruidoso; grandsons, Ben and Parker Miller of Albuquerque; mother in law, Dee Giblin of Albuquerque; sister in law, Michele Shipe of Alamogordo; step daughter, Marya Beauvais, of Albuquerque; step son, Eran McManemy of Ruidoso; step granddaughter, Bailey LaMarca of Albuquerque and more family and loving friends. A memorial service will be held at LaGrone Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 17, at 10:30 A.M. Flowers may be sent to LaGrone Funeral Chapel or donations to Ruidoso Home Care and Hospice in Gregs memory.
