Gilbert Balatche

Prayer service for Gilbert Bruce Balatche, 69, of Mescalero will be Wednesday, March 4, at 6:00 PM in St. Joseph's Mission at Mescalero where the funeral mass will be on Thursday, March 5, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Balatche Cemetery. Mr. Balatche passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 in El Paso, Texas. He was born February 6, 1940 at Mescalero and had lived there all of his life. He served in the Army for 12 years having served in Vietnam. He graduated from the Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma, had worked for Mescalero Forest Products and the Mescalero Branch of Forestry. He is survived by his mother, Angela Balatche; sisters, Marlene Peso, Martha Stocks, Beverly Archilita, Peggy Comanche, Sandra McCurtain, Barbara Balatche; brothers, Mark Balatche and Raymond Wilson and numerous and nieces. He is also survived by his life long companion, Evelyn Breuninger.
