Georgia Griffin died in the arms of her loving husband, Lee, early morning Sunday March 16. Cancer may have taken her body, but her spirit will live on forever in the hearts and minds of her family and many friends.
An infectious smile coupled with a glowing personality, she never came across a stranger. She loved life, her family, her friends and her pets.
She was born Georgia Hammond in Clovis, NM to George and Helen in 1949.
Lee and Georgia were married for nearly forty years. After beginning their life together in Clovis, they moved to Ruidoso in 1980.
She was the mother of one daughter but helped raise many. Her home was always open and the welcome sign was always out.
Countless pets dogs and cats - moved through her home and her life. If you saw a big old Labrador hanging out of a car window, Georgia was probably behind the wheel.
If you knew her she touched you.
To honor her love for life, her friends and the occasional good party a CELEBRATION of her life will be held at Cree Meadows Country Club from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Shannon Griffin; her grandchildren, James and George Kaufmann; her son-in-law, Jeff Kaufmann; her mother, Helen Hammond; and, her sisters, Jane Garza and Jeri Cook.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Lincoln County.
