George Serna

George Henry Serna, passed away on April 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. George fondly known as Skinny Man, was born to Adelina and Alex Serna on July 26, 1956, in Carrizozo, New Mexico. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator that retired from the County of Lincoln after 30 years. He had a passion for muscle cars, woodworking, and gardening. He enjoyed spending his free time cruising in the mountains with his friends and loving his family.

George is survived by his daughters Nichomy Padilla, Samantha J. Serna, and Ashleigh Zeigler with her husband Jamie Ziegler. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jared and Devinee Redmon, River Ziegler, and Melina R. Serna; sisters Patsy Serna, and Martha Guevara, and brother Fred Serna along with numerous nephews and nieces. George was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Adelina, and brothers Benerito Serna, Albert T. Serna, and Nick Serna.

His kind and gentle spirit will be missed greatly. He was a consistent man, always showing patience and grace. We are truly blessed and grateful to be given such a gift from god, George will always be in our hearts, even if he is out of our sight.

His funeral service will be Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Santa Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery.  Pallbearers of the funeral include John Serna, Alex Serna, Casey Vega, Kenny Vega, Ray Nunez, and Marcos Barela.
