George Hobbs, 69, of Capitan passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at his home. He was born November 23, 1947 at Tularosa, NM and lived in Lincoln County until the late 1970's and then moved back in 2013.
He was a part of the first class of Nob Hill Elementary, retired Range Technician for U.S. Forestry Service, he loved big game hunting and was Past President of the New Mexico Houndsman Association. He served in the Army during the Vietman War. He married Elizabeth Gross on November 2, 1991 at Cliff, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by a son, Garrick Hobbs; his mother, Annie Hobbs; a brother, Jack Hobbs; and grandparents, Nancy and Shorty Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Capitan; a daughter, Jolie Foster and her husband Mark of Portales; father, Claude Hobbs of Carrizozo; sister, Dorrothy Bradley of Carrizozo; three grandchildren, Mason Foster, Monte Foster and Joni Foster.
His memorial service will be Saturday, December 3, at 10:00 A.M. at the Carrizozo Assembly of God Church.
The family has requested memorials to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales.
