Fred C. Knapp, 80, of Alto, NM passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home. He was born February 22, 1937 at El Paso, Texas. After graduating high school Fred was in the Seabees in 1955. He retired as a fireman for the City of El Paso then moved to Ruidoso in 1982. In Ruidoso he served as a Building Inspector for the Village of Ruidoso. Fred was credited with bringing the annual convention of building officials in the state to Ruidoso, combining the event with state fire marshals. He attended the Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He married Mary Ann Werthmann on September 27, 1958 in El Paso, Texas. His family is his wife Mary; daughters, JoAnna Badillo of El Paso and son-in-law Manuel, Lorraine Fender of El Paso and son-in-law Rodney, Mildred Rojas of El Paso and son-in-law Guillermo and Patricia Robles of Alamogordo and son-in-law, Gabriel; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Frederick Knapp in 1982.
His Rosary will be Monday, April 3, at 9:30 A.M. at St. Eleanor's Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 A.M.
