Frankye Fleck

Frankye Louise Atchley Eversole Fleck, 76, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on May 4, 2014, at her home in Ruidoso, New Mexico, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder. She was surrounded and comforted by her children and one granddaughter at the time of her death. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Grandfield, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Grandfield Memorial Cemetery.

Frankye was born on July 19, 1937, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, to Frank and Myrtle Odell Atchley, graduated from Grandfield High School in 1955, and attended Cameron University. On August 20, 1955, she married J. Lewis Eversole. They made their home in Grandfield until moving to Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1990. They lived together in Wichita Falls until his death in 1996. Frankye remained in Wichita Falls and later married Alfred Keisling and Edward Fleck.

Frankye worked from 1965 to 1997 at Huffs Furniture Gallery in Wichita Falls and was a widely sought after interior designer and a top sales leader before she retired. By all accounts, Frankye was a modernday, highly successful career woman who balanced her work with raising a family and serving as a friend, counselor, second mom, and sister to peers, young adults, and teenagers. While she enjoyed playing bridge, she absolutely loved going dancing or simply visiting with friends.

After her retirement from Huffs, she split her time between her homes in Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Wichita Falls, Texas, with her friends and family. She loved playing the slots at the local casinos, going to the Spencer Theatre, helping out at a consignment shop, reading the latest fiction until the wee hours of the morning, and designing or decorating her homes and those of friends. When asked in early 2014 what she would like most to do again, she said design and decorate another house. Even though her residence was in Texas, Frankye was a tried and true fan of the Oklahoma Sooners football team and everyone knew not to call or try to visit with her during football season when an Oklahoma or even a Texas team was playing.

Frankye lived her life with tongueincheek humor, compassion, strength, grace, and poise. As one friend said, Frankye was the epitome of style and everything chic, capable of captivating a room the moment she entered. She had an incredible talent of making everyone she met feel special in general and to her in particular.
She is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three brothers, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Frankye Eversole Fleck was preceded in death by her husbands: J. Lewis Eversole, Alfred Keisling, and Edward Fleck.
