Fernando Shosh

Fernando Andrew Shosh Jr.,"Piper", 58 of Mescalero, New Mexico went on his final hunt on January 17th, 2025.

He was born to Fernando, Sr. and Amy Shosh on November 23, 1966. He was the only son of three children, he was spoiled rotten. Pipe went to grade school in Tularosa and high school at Dulce High. After school, he went to mechanic school "job core", in Oklahoma, where he met his children's mother, Rebecca. They Married in October of 87' in Mescalero, Pipe talked his best beau, Fernon Chino and Cousin Nelda Chee into being their witnesses. Soon thereafter his first Child, Amberlee was born, and a year later the boss, Megan had made her appearance. Pipe had many different hats when it came to work. He was an occasional mechanic, a hand at the stables where he was a farrier, took people out on trail rides, helped set up for banquets, a conservation officer for the tribe, road crew for the tribe, meat processor for the hunting lodge, hunt guide for elk and bear season, he also worked for the Inn.

He was a stubborn ol' mule, he had to have it his way or no way! He was always down to throw back some cold ones and listen to some good tunes, you could always find him at the Inn or on his ol' porch. He loved telling stories of his wild hunts he had been on! He claimed to have strung a few tunes with the boys from Metallica, after an elk hunt and claimed he was offered a contract, but he couldn't go because they were all "lite weights". He was not a big fan of Toby Keith in his last bit of life either, he said that that's how the rich stay rich...they don't tip for NOTHING even when they get the biggest elk on the hunt!! He was a man who loved to spend time in the outdoors, he was always up to go hunt or search for antlers. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family. He would always call his daughter Amberlee, and Megan try to get their feathers ruffled while he had his buddies over....often it was the other way around! He was worst then a woman, he would call to tell them about all the rez gossip or family drama going on.

He took pride in his grandson, Phillip, Carmine, and Carter. He always called to ask about them and enjoyed when they would show up unannounced and beat his door down! You could always count on a bear hug from ol' Pipe.

He is survived by two daughters:

Amberlee Shosh, and companion Donovan Cruikshank, of Anadarko, Ok.

Megan Shosh and wife Kaylee of Anadarko, Ok.

Three grandson: Phillip Jr. and Carmine Olivates, and Carter Perry, all of Anadarko, Ok.

Sister: Lavernie "Munch" Kinzhuma of Ruidoso, NM,

Nephews: Mathew Shosh, and wife Cari and son Hayden of Salem, OR

Elmer "Kobe" Kaydahzinne Jr. of Mescalero, NM

Cousin: Charlene and Husband Mike Bigmouth of Mescalero, NM.

Aunt: Norma Shosh- Adams of Mescalero, NM.

Numerous family and friends! Pipe knew no stranger. He was loved by many!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando Shosh Sr. and Amy Shosh, infant granddaughters Ayla Marie and Ailee Ruth Cruikshank, sister, Berdena "Berd" Shosh, Cousins, Fran Randell and DeShawna Morgan Maternal grandparents, Evelyn Martin and Ralph Chee and Paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Fannie Shosh.
