Erma V. Sanchez went to be with the Lord on 8/17/2023. Erma was born in Dawson, NM 7/15/1927 to Roma and Sandy Valdez. She was the 4th of 7 children raised in Cimarron, NM. Erma met her husband of 65 years, Henry Sanchez, at Highlands University. Erma is survived by her three children Debbie Hudnall, Gary Sanchez and Tina Sanchez, her son-in laws Robert Hudnall and Geronimo Valverde, and daughter in law Aysha Turtle, two grandchildren Erin Wolff and Leah Henderson and great granddaughters Evangeline and Riley.
Erma taught at Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, NM for 20 years. She and Henry retired in Lincoln, NM where they built and beautiful home and cultivated many friends. After Henry's death in 2014 She moved to Southlake, Texas to live with her daughter Debbie and her family. Also, to be close to Tina who resides in Tyler, Texas. Erma continued to be active and involved with her family and many new friends through Bible Study and the girl's outings in Dallas. She was known for her cleaning the green chili from New Mexico. No one ever found a single seed in Erma's chili. She was a great baker and would make cookies and treats for her loved ones. Not to be forgotten was her impeccable embroidery works. She shared with many her dish towels and pillow cases. Even in her 90's you could find Erma cooking dinner, vacuuming and doing the laundry. She maintained a remarkable independence that was admired by many. She set ahigh standard by which she lived.
