Graveside service for Edward George Fleck, 82, of Ruidoso will be Wednesday, July 9, at 4:00 PM in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Fleck passed away Wednesday, June 25, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born May 20, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York.
Mr. Fleck enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after graduation from high school on May, 8, 1944. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 7, 1946 after serving on the USS Washington, USS Honolulu, USS Tuscaloosa as a Radar Man'.
After returning from the service, Ed worked as a Police Officer, a bank teller, and at Macys Separtment Store in New York, He then moved to Newark, Delaware and then began attending the Drexel Institute of Technologyh in Philadelphia, PA and graduated with an Electrical Engineer degree.
He was Senior Engineer at Delmarva Power and Light Company in Newark, Delaware for 30 years. He was also Vice Chairman of Edison Electric Institute with clients all over the U.S.A. He retired from Delmarva in 1988 and moved to Ruidoso in 1990.
He was Past President of Rotary Clubs on Newark and Ruidoso and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Director's Circle at Spencer Theater, the Lincoln County U.S. Bowling Association, the Lincoln County Medical Center Auxiliary and a former member o fSearch and Rescue and attended St. Eleanor's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frankye; step children, Bob Munyan, Hank Munyan, Rich Munyan, Stan Eversole, Kellye Eversole and Lori Eversola Leach; 11 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Marion on April 14, 2002 who he married in 1970.
