Edith Rooney

Edith Ann Dixon RooneyEdie passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at her home in Ruidoso. She was born June 2, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas.

Edie was instrumental in several Ruidoso Companies including owning and operating Ruidosos Montgomery Wards catalog store in the 1980s, coowning and founding Lincoln Medical with Verna Adams, and Adobe Ski Shop with her husband Pat. Later in her life she would find one of her true passions as a Emergency 911 Dispatcher for the Ruidoso Police Department, a position she held for 17 years until she retired. She married Pat Hull Rooney in July, 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by two sons, William Patrick Will Rooney and John Wesley Wes Rooney, daughter in law, Jennifer Elizabeth Rooney step daughter, Janna Lynn Rooney Tsosie and her four grandsons, Alex Gonzales, Patrick Rooney, Connor Rooney and Michael Stevens her father, Ernest Alfred Huebner and his wife, Judy brothers, Jack Huebner and his wife, Susan, Jimmy Huebner and his wife, Bekki Donny Huebner and his wife Lora. When her father remarried she acquired two new siblings, Andrea M. Wittenbrink and her husband Darrel and Martin W. LaFrance and his wife, Kelli.

Funeral service will be Sunday, July 28, at 1:00 PM at the Sanctuary on the River with a potluck style lunch at Noon.

The family has requested memorials to the Ruidoso Humans Society or Animal Village, NM.
