Douglas Woods

March 23, 1953 — August 17, 2009

Douglas Alan Woods, 56, long time resident of Capitan, NM passed away at his home on Monday, August 17, 2009. Doug's first love was music. Having been raised in the Motor City, aka Detroit, Michigan, Doug was exposed to all kinds of music at a early age...but his favorite was Rock and Roll. To this day, Doug has an extensive collection of music, and could not only Name That Tune, but he could usually tell you the year it was recorded, as well as most of the band members. After leaving Michigan in the early seventies, Doug traveled around and lived in many states, before settling in New Mexico.

Doug's other love was being outdoors, and in particular, out in his garden. He grew all types of vegetables, and was happy to share them with anybody that seemed interested.

Doug was employed by Cornelius Construction for 18 years.

Doug is survived by his parents; Clifford and Josephine Woods of Truth or Consequences, NM and Michigan; his companion of 12 years, Susie Griffith of Capitan; sister, Gail Chamberlain and her husband Jerry, niece, Rachel Paradis and her husband Jody and their children, Camden and Keaton; nephew, Mark Chamberlain all of Michigan; sister, Linda Cornelius and her husband Bill and nieces Kiana and Alia all of Ruidoso; sister, Donna Bassett and her companion, Dave Smith of Ruidoso, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Come share some stories with us at a potluck memorial at Cedar Creek Pavilion at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2009.
