A private burial for Dorothy M. Leslie, 93 of Carrizozo, will be Saturday January 30, 2010 in Cedarvale Cemetery in White Oaks.
Mrs. Leslie was born on March 9, 1916 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Lorenzo and Nettle Hull Pratt and passed away on January 25, 2010 at her home in Carrizozo. She lived in Rapid City till age 7 at which time she moved to Tularosa with her family and in 1928 moved to White Oaks in 1928. She attended school and graduated high school there. While in White Oaks she met her husband Robert Leslie, of 70 years, and they were married in Albuquerque in 1932. Dorothy and Robert moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1939 and in 1976 they moved to Carrizozo where they enjoyed retirement. She was a homemaker for a ranching and mining family, she was a member of the White Oaks Historical Society and was treasurer for a number of years, was a member of the Alaska Yukon Pioneers, and a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, based in Boston, Mass and Fairbanks, Alaska. She was also a member of the Carrizozo Senior Center and taught art to the seniors for a number of years, she loved to sew and garden.
Mrs. Leslie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2003, two brothers, Harold Pratt and Marion Pratt, two sisters, Eva Johnson, Ruth Pratt and her parents.
She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Leslie and his wife Sharon of Carrizozo and Donald Leslie of Salcha, Alaska 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
