Donnie Lynn McMasters unexpectedly met the Lord on August 3, 2020 at 69 years of age. He was born February 1, 1951 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Helen and L.A. McMasters, who greeted him at Heaven’s gate. Donnie attended Duncan High School until he joined the Marine Corps in 1969 where he made friends and brothers for life who nicknamed him Hoss. He was married to Lorri McKnight for 21 years and they had a daughter, Sara McMasters. He is also survived by daughters Diana Odell, Amanda (James) Gallegos and 2 grandchildren Teagan and Ethan Gallegos; sister Brenda (Ocie) Overstreet, brother Michael McMasters; nieces and nephews Heather (Jon) Kulbeth, Keith (Theresa) Corp, Denver (Haily) Overstreet, Jordan (Jessica) McMasters and great nieces and nephews Makenna and Mason Kulbeth, Nolan Corp, Daxton Overstreet, and Olivia McMasters.
Donnie was a lover of all things outdoors and was referred to as “Honda Don” in his younger, motorcycle racing days. He loved life in Ruidoso where he’s resided since 1988. Donnie was an active member of his church and had a huge love of the God. He loved to play harmonica and always carried his suitcase full of them. He had a passion for music and was self-taught on many different instruments.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Wingfield Park at 3:00 PM followed by a music tribute at Sacred Grounds. The family will later spread his ashes in a private ceremony.
